Why a guided fasting retreat?

Many people find that fasting at home can be challenging. The rest of the family eats normally around you, daily responsibilities continue, and it’s easy to end up with little rest. Your body and mind can’t relax in the same way as they would in a supportive environment. Preparing smoothies, drinks, and fasting meals can feel like a burden, or uncertainty about your own well-being may cause concern. At the Elontuli retreat, everything is ready for you. You can rest, slow down, and focus on your own well-being in the peace of nature.

Fasting can be a very powerful and profound experience – but it can also be a delicate time for your body and nervous system. On a guided retreat, you don’t have to do everything on your own. Throughout the retreat, you’ll have the support of instructors, nursing care, and a safe environment where you can truly focus on rest and recovery. The daily program and treatments support your fasting process.

Especially during a water fast, safe guidance, supervision, and the ability to proceed at your own pace are extremely important. Every body reacts to fasting differently. During the retreat, we always proceed while listening to how you are feeling. For many, a guided retreat offers the opportunity to reach a deeper state of rest and recovery during fasting than would be possible at home. International participants are warmly welcome. Guidance is available in both Finnish and English.


Fasting options

You can choose the fasting method that suits you best from three different options, and if necessary, you can switch fasting methods during the retreat.


1. Guided Therapeutic Water Fast

A guided water fast activates the body’s natural cleansing and healing processes. Each day, you’ll drink water, the mineral drinks included in the program, and herbal tea. The water fast includes daily treatments to support the body’s cleansing process, as well as one colonic treatment.

During a water fast:

  • digestion slows down
  • the body begins to use its own energy reserves, that is, to burn fat
  • the body’s natural cleansing processes are activated
  • the body enters a deeper state of recovery
  • autophagy – the body’s natural process of cell renewal and repair – is activated individually 16–48 hours after fasting
  • During prolonged water fasting, the body begins to produce stem cells that aid in the body’s repair processes

If necessary, you can switch to a balancing detox or smoothie fast. The transition to the recovery phase is done flexibly.


2. 
Balancing and Light Detox Fast

A guided detox fast is a holistic way to slow down. You’ll receive support for your body’s cleansing and renewal through light, easily digestible food, treatments, and rest. You’ll enjoy cleansing, low-calorie, warm detox meals five times a day (low-protein, no added fat or sugar, gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan).

During a detox fast:

  • the body receives light, low-calorie, and cleansing nourishment
  • the strain on the body is reduced
  • digestion improves and bloating is reduced
  • improved nutrient absorption
  • the digestive system and metabolism are gently stimulated
  • the body’s natural elimination processes are supported
  • the nervous system calms down and your connection to your body grows stronger

The low fat and protein content helps slow down your metabolism and allow your body to detoxify. If necessary, you can transition to a smoothie fast or a recovery phase flexibly, based on how you feel.


3.
 Nutrient-Rich Smoothie Fast

A guided smoothie fast is the most nutrient-rich fasting option. It is particularly suitable when you want to combine body cleansing, recovery, and nutritional support in a holistic way. The smoothie fast supports the body’s natural cleansing and repair processes while providing you with nutrient-rich and easily absorbed fresh liquid nutrition. You’ll eat three filling smoothie meals a day that also include protein and healthy fats (vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free).

During a smoothie fast:

  • the digestive system is under less strain
  • the body gets plenty of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants
  • hydration and nutrient absorption are enhanced
  • your digestive system gets a break from heavy, processed foods
  • the body’s natural cleansing and recovery processes are activated
  • your metabolism may begin to rebalance, and you may feel lighter and more energized
  • Energy levels may stabilize thanks to nutrient-rich liquid food
  • The nervous system calms down through a combination of nutrition, treatments, rest, and a slower pace of daily life

A smoothie fast is a holistic and effective way to support your body when you want to combine cleansing with nutritional support, but a water fast or low-calorie detox feels too intense.

You can join the Elontuli Fasting Retreat during the session that works best for you:

1.     Full retreat (6 days): July 7 at 5:00 p.m. – July 13 at 5:00 p.m.
2.     The 3-day period over the weekend: July 10 at 5:00 p.m. – July 13 at 4:00 p.m.
3.      Option to extend: until July 15, 2026

Priority for reservations is given to those participating for the entire duration (July 7–13 / July 15).


The days are structured around rest and a light, optional program that includes, in addition to treatments, the following:

  • morning activities: guided exercise or a leisurely walk outdoors
  • nursing consultation and follow-up
  • lectures on fasting and wellness
  • guided self-massage
  • a beach sauna that is heated daily
  • shared moments and group discussions
  • breathing exercises
  • gentle active meditations
  • evening relaxation, soothing yin yoga, sound healing with singing bowls or soothing piano music

In addition, the daily schedule includes various beverages, detox meals, or smoothies in accordance with the selected fasting program.

Colonic and Enema treatments are for those who are on a water fast.


The three-day treatment package includes: 

Three different treatments of your choice from the options listed above. The water fasting treatment package also includes two enema treatments and one colonic treatment.

For an additional fee, you can receive any of the aforementioned treatments as add-ons. Additionally, we offer full-body massage, paraffin hand treatments, cosmetic acupuncture, or personalized singing bowl therapy.

At Elontuli, you truly pause. The entire program is voluntary. You can participate in the program or rest according to how you feel. During the fast, your body may also react with, for example, fatigue or emotional release. For this reason, guidance and support are available at all times.

Before the retreat, you will receive clear preparation instructions. You will prepare by lightening your diet and reducing your intake of coffee and sugar, among other things, so that your body transitions into fasting more smoothly.

Recovery continues at home, and at the end of the retreat, participants receive instructions for breaking the fast, home care guidelines, tips for continuing their recovery, and inspiration for more lasting changes in their well-being. The retreat is not suitable for pregnant women, breastfeeding women, underweight individuals, or people with a history of eating disorders. If you have a serious chronic illness, please discuss your participation in the retreat with your doctor.

Pragita Teerisuo

Pragita holds a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Biology, and is a botanist and herbal consultant. Since completing her academic studies, she has pursued extensive training over the course of more than three decades in areas such as deep breathing, tantra, family constellations, meditation, and music.  Her guidance combines bodywork, therapeutic breathing, mindfulness, and balancing the nervous system. She trains breath therapists and tantra instructors.

Pragita has participated in numerous fasting courses and led detox programs. She has firsthand experience of both the benefits of fasting and the challenges associated with it. This brings understanding, realism, and a compassionate presence to her guidance. For her, fasting is not a feat, but an opportunity to listen to the body, quiet the mind, and strengthen the connection to one’s own inner wisdom.

Marika Yliluoma

Marika is a holistic wellness coach, TCM acupuncturist, phytotherapist, and Tantric Life Coach. Her work combines nervous system balancing with natural physical wellness methods. For several decades, Marika has been studying various fasting methods and supporting the body’s natural cleansing and healing processes through complementary therapies.

At Elontuli retreats, Marika’s approach is gentle yet profound. Her guidance combines safety, individuality, and holistic well-being. For Marika, the most important thing is to help people pause, recover, and reconnect with their own bodies. During the retreat, you can also book additional individual treatments with Marika.

Nurse Anry Aruorg

Anry is responsible for providing safe and personalized guidance to participants and administering treatments. She has several years of experience working as a nurse in fasting and detox programs and supporting participants’ well-being throughout the various stages of the fasting process. Anry’s calm and warmly compassionate approach helps participants progress safely while listening to their own bodies.

Where is the course held?

The course will be held at the Elontuli Course Center in Karjalohja, a very peaceful location about an hour’s drive from Helsinki and Turku. Elontuli is surrounded by beautiful nature, right next to the crystal-clear Lake Puujärvi. The silence of nature, the forest, and the lake promote relaxation of the nervous system and deep recovery.

Accommodations – a restful night’s sleep and space to recharge

Accommodation is in quiet rooms for 2–3 people. For an additional fee, you can book a single room (40€/night). Participants are kindly asked to bring their own bed linen and towels. If you prefer, you can rent them on site (towel and sheet fee 20€).


Price and Registration

Full retreat (6 days, July 7–13, 2026):

The first 10 people to register can participate at the introductory price of 1450€.

The introductory price is valid until June 21, 2026, after which the regular price for the retreat will be 1650€. Participants taking advantage of the pilot price agree to complete a feedback survey at the end of the retreat and to participate in a feedback discussion with the course leadership team.

Weekend session (3 days, July 10–13, 2026):
The price for the three-day fasting retreat is 780€. Space is limited.
